Were rancheros gay
Directed by William Witney. Manzanita Springs ia a combination small airline and spa and Vance Brados wants it. He pays their mechanic to have the planes run out of fuel so his men can rob the gold shipments and kill the pilots. After Sheriff Roy Rogers catches the mechanic, Roy plans one more gold shipment to get proof and were rancheros gay time his men will be ready.
But it looks like Roy's plan will fail when Brados suspects a trap and call off the raid. Ernest Gold Nathan Scott. Action Western. Gonna be honest, watched this for the title alone big fucking surprise instead of one of the many actually good westerns streaming rn.
Cosy little Roy Rogers western that isn't outstanding but a quick and fun watch and probably mainly remembered for its title these days. It's another sort of modern day western that deals were rancheros gay airplane hijacking, and though I'm usually not the biggest fan of those, this is pretty charming if you like Roy and his gang.
As always there wasn't enough Trigger, but we do get a cute monkey as a main character. People are messing with flight plans the steal gold. Roy is on the case, and finds the bad guys. It is very similar to a 3 Mesquiteers movie starring Wayne that was made a decade earlier.
At least Wayne gave me something to watch for in his B era films. The only problem with The Gay Ranchero is that I don't know who the gay ranchero is! But this movie does have the greatest theme song ever. Roy Rogers is a sheriff in He's after some thieves who keep stealing gold from an airline.
The planes have to land for various reasons, and the thieves, on horseback, steal the gold shipments. The airline and its associated spa are going to have to close if Rogers can't solve the case. These old Roy Rogers Westerns seem a lot more like TV episodes in terms of cinematography, editing, storytelling, etc.
And before TV had become common in American homes, I'm sure that's what they were: hour-long fillers in Saturday matinees. Fairly average Roy Rogers western. Has a little of everything, but none of it was all that memorable. Seen worse from them, but I've also seen much more inspired delivery from them too.
what does it mean to be a queer ranchero?
Misleading title! Sheriff Roy Rogers must save a near bankrupt charter airline from saboteurs trying to buy it on the cheap for their smuggling racket. Andy Devine provides the "comedy" as he trains to be a matador. Roy sings in Spanish. Instead it was a boring old Western just like any other.
Nothing special at all. If you liked this movie, read my essay about singing cowboy films that Make Americana Great Again! Tito Guizar really adds a kick of life to Roy Rongers town — between his excellent singing voice, songs he's given to sing and dashing good looks I'm actually a little sad he didn't make more cameos.
